myWaves FAQs

The myWaves team initiated this project after we had proven the concept and further clinical trials were underway to confirm the efficacy of this neuroscientific discovery.

Between March and December 2023, a clinical trial was conducted at the Sleep and Vigilance Center of the Paris Hôtel-Dieu Hospital (APHP), led by Dr. Damien Léger. The objective was to test sleep-inducing sounds in patients with chronic insomnia.

The Sleep and Vigilance Research Center has been conducting epidemiological research on sleep disorders in France and other European and American countries for 25 years.

Clinical expertise at APHP focuses on various types of sleep disorders, particularly insomnia, sleep apnea, hypersomnia, drowsiness while driving, and occupational medicine. More than 3,000 sleep physiological recordings are performed annually at this sleep center.

In our study, all participants rated myWaves 8 or higher (out of 10), and the data showed an increase in total sleep time by 18.9 minutes.

myWaves utilizes the latest security measures to ensure that all user data is protected using AWS security systems. All user data is anonymized and encrypted. Furthermore, user data and brainwave data are not stored together.

myWaves Pebble uses wet electrodes, which allows it to record your brain's delta waves to medical standards, with higher accuracy and less noise.

If you go to a sleep clinic, they will hook you up to an EEG system, which will record the delta waves located specifically in your frontal lobe. We have created a small, easy-to-use device that records delta waves in the same way it is done in a sleep clinic. The resulting file will be an EDF reading of your delta waves, identical to theirs. To create your personalized sound, we only need a good quality recording of slow waves/deep sleep waves, which occur early in your sleep cycle. Even if you have poor sleep quality, these waves still occur, and our patented system will read the file to pinpoint their location.

The myWaves algorithm filters and organizes your delta wave recordings. Then, through a patented process called neuro-acoustic transduction, myWaves creates a completely personalized sleep sound, transforming your brainwaves into soundwaves. This process considers the unique characteristics of individual waves and generates sound waves that mimic those characteristics.

Neuroscientists and clinical trialists do not yet know the exact mechanism, but one possibility is that this is a form of “resonance” between the internal dynamics of an individual's brain and the acoustic stimulus when the dynamics are the same. We also know from anatomy that there is a direct transmission from the auditory cortex to the brainstem centers responsible for sleep regulation. However, as our clinical trials have shown, while the mechanism of action is still uncertain, the results are no longer in question. All test participants rated the experience 8 or higher (out of 10).

The good news is that you only need to record your sleep once to get your unique sound. Please note that you cannot use someone else's sound to achieve results. We have confirmed this in a clinical study. The waveform in your brain as an adult does not change much from when you were a child/teenager or elderly. We recommend that adults record their delta wave sounds 3-4 times per year. For younger age groups, recordings will need to be more frequent as their waveforms are still changing. The elderly also experience changes in their waveforms and will require more frequent recordings.

We offer replacement of all defective parts for all our products within a maximum period of 2 years.

The recording and process will not be affected. myWaves only records your deep sleep, which is not affected by your overall night’s sleep or the quality of your sleep during other phases. Everyone has slow-wave/deep sleep, even on nights of restless sleep. We want you to record a full 8 hours of sleep, but we can usually detect slow-waves even in shorter recordings.

Nightmares, restless sleep, and waking up in the middle of the night are normal for many people. As long as you record your entire night's sleep, the slow waves we are looking for typically occur at the beginning of sleep. Nightmares usually begin during the middle to the end of sleep in the REM stage. Strange dreams will not affect sleep recordings.

Children should be supervised closely when using this product. This product is not suitable for children and small parts may be swallowed. Always keep the product and packaging away from children and pets.

Yes. Always maintain a minimum distance of 10 cm between your headphones and a pacemaker or an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) as these products generate magnetic fields.

If you use a CPAP machine, do not allow the machine to come into contact with the adhesive patch during recording, as this may result in incomplete recordings.

Avoid placing the earbuds in areas with temperatures exceeding 70 degrees Celsius (such as near a hairdryer, heater, prolonged sunlight, etc.), as the internal battery may overheat.

Only charge the headphones in an ambient temperature between 10 and 40 degrees Celsius.

No, do not squeeze or puncture the battery. Avoid exposing the battery to high pressure, as this may cause an internal short circuit and overheating.

Dimensions approximately 55mm x 30mm x 13mm

The user wears the myWaves Pebble device for a single night and allows it to record their delta waves. The device attaches to your forehead using a wet adhesive pad. You then upload the data from the Pebble device to the myWaves website.

The myWaves algorithm filters and sorts your delta wave recording. Then, using a patented process called neuro-acoustic transduction, myWaves creates a completely personalized sleep sound, transforming your brainwaves into soundwaves. This process takes into account the unique characteristics of each individual's waves and creates soundwaves that mimic those characteristics.

The myWaves team started this project after we had proven the concept and conducted additional clinical trials to confirm that these neuroscientific findings produce real results.

Between March and December 2023, a clinical trial was conducted at the Sleep and Vigilance Centre of the Paris Hôtel-Dieu Hospital (APHP), led by Dr. Damien Léger. Its objective was to test sleep-inducing sounds in patients with chronic insomnia.

You must charge the Pebble before each use.

Purchasing myWaves from Kickstarter grants you a 1-year license, allowing one user to record 4 sessions per year and receive an audio file each time. For additional users, a new 1-year subscription must be purchased, and 4 adhesive pads will be shipped.

For accurate sleep recording data, Pebble needs to be firmly and securely attached to the forehead. Since a CPAP mask may interfere with the placement or adherence of Pebble, we do not recommend wearing a CPAP mask while using Pebble for sleep recording.

myWaves recommends that if you have an adhesive allergy, you should consult a doctor to determine if this product is suitable for you. myWaves wants all users to have a safe and positive experience with its products.

myWaves is not a sleep aid. Clinical data shows that some participants fell asleep faster, but myWaves does not make this claim as the clinical evidence for this effect is not yet conclusive.

However, our proof-of-concept study found that participants entered REM sleep 16.6 minutes faster.

No, this product does not have any sound.

This device has an indicator light to assist users during operation. An instruction sheet with indicator light information is provided. The light will remain on for 3 minutes after the record button is pressed and will turn off when recording is complete.

Unlike other dry-EEG devices used at home, myWaves uses wet electrodes, which allow it to accurately record the delta waves in your brain with less interference, similar to a clinic.

If you go to a sleep clinic, they will connect you to an EEG system that records delta waves specifically from your forehead. We have created a small, easy-to-use device that records delta waves in the same way as in a sleep clinic. The resulting file will be an EDF reading of your delta waves, exactly the same. To create your personalized sound, we only need a good quality recording of slow-wave/deep sleep, which occurs early in your sleep cycle. Even if you have poor sleep quality, these waves still occur, and our patented system reads the file to identify their location.

Recording and processing will not be affected.myWaves will only record your deep sleep period, which is not affected by your overall sleep duration or the quality of your sleep during other periods. Everyone experiences slow waves/deep sleep while sleeping, even on nights of poor sleep. We want you to record a full 8 hours of sleep, but we can usually detect slow waves even in shorter recordings.

Please follow the instructions provided to ensure proper assembly of the Pebble and the adhesive pad. Please clean off any oil, dirt, makeup, or other products before attaching the adhesive pad to capture the image.

myWaves is not a sleeping pill. Clinical data shows that some participants fell asleep faster, but myWaves does not make this claim as the clinical evidence for this effect is not conclusive enough.

The benefits of listening to myWaves for 30 minutes each night before bed are the same for adults aged 25-60. We recommend repeating your recording 3-4 times a year to ensure your brainwave patterns remain consistent, although most adults experience minimal changes. Individuals under 25 and over 60 may wish to repeat recordings more frequently due to potentially greater changes in brainwave patterns.

(Will certain medications/supplements affect brain waves during deep sleep?)

We recommend not taking other sleeping pills on the night of the recording. Taking other medications will have very little or no impact on deep sleep brain waves.

myWaves has not undergone long-term clinical trials to determine the long-term effects of listening to these sounds. However, scientific principles suggest that this natural approach to improving sleep is similar to listening to classical music, which has no long-term effects.

You simply wear the Pebble watch to record your delta waves. Your myWaves recordings are then ready for listening on any audio device.

The provided audio file is an MP3 file that can be played on phones, speakers, headbands, headphones, or any device that supports Bluetooth.

The volume should be adjusted to a level that is loud enough for clear hearing, as each person's hearing sensitivity varies. However, it should not be so loud as to be disturbing or disruptive. Choose a comfortable volume that promotes relaxation without being intrusive.

The adhesive used is a 3M material, with similar adhesive properties to other sticky products found in pharmacies.

If the system prompts you to enable BitLocker while connecting Pebble, please cancel or skip the encryption. Enabling BitLocker may cause malfunctions during brainwave recording and file uploads.

No, myWaves uses the latest security measures to ensure all user data is protected using AWS security systems. All user data is anonymized and encrypted. Additionally, user data and brainwave data are not stored together.
